One of the most notable features of Z Aqua-Thane G40 is its ability to darken or "wet out" the concrete surface, giving it a distinctive appearance. The amount of darkening will depend on the porosity of the concrete, so it is recommended to test the product on a small sample before application. Compared to Aqua-Thane M35, Z Aqua-Thane G40 offers a higher gloss finish and greater darkening effect. M35, on the other hand, provides a matte/satin finish with slight darkening on colored concrete. To achieve the best results with Z Aqua-Thane G40, surface preparation is crucial. Before applying this sealer, ensure that the concrete is entirely cured, and there is no moisture left, which can compromise adhesion. You can check for moisture using a moisture meter or taping several 6x6-inch sheets of clear plastic to the surface edges. If the plastic remains dry after 24 hours, there are no hydrostatic pressure problems. Additionally, if you have used acid stains, neutralize the concrete to a pH of 7. For application, ensure that the concrete surface temperature is between 55ºF-85ºF. Use a 1/4” nap roller or micro-fiber applicator pad for smaller areas such as countertops. Apply the product in a thin, even coating and avoid allowing it to puddle in low areas. Two coats are recommended for sufficient protection, and additional coats may be necessary for rough or porous concrete. Re-coat time is 6-12 hours at 75ºF, and the first coat should be tack-free before applying the second coat. Z Aqua-Thane G40 offers excellent coverage, with one 1.5 qt. kit covering an area of 50-75 sq. ft. at two coats. This product is fast-drying, safe for indoor or outdoor use, durable, and provides exceptional chemical and UV resistance.
